Gentlemen's Captain: Jeffrey B. Watkins
Born in Liverpool in 1944, raised in Childwall, attended Rudston Road County Primary, and Ryebank High School.
A keen sportsman at school, played Football, Cricket and Athletics representing the school at all sports. On leaving school, trained as a Radio and Television engineer in a family business, before joining Liverpool Fire Brigade in 1962. Jeff Served operationally at many Fire Stations throughout the city, including Brigade Headquarters at Hatton Garden and attended the Fire Service College at Moreton in Marsh, finally resigning in 1977.
Jeff Met Sylvia his future wife, at the Childwall Young Conservatives in 1962, happily married since 1965, have two daughters Lynn and Karen and are proud grandparents to Antony and Kate.
On leaving the Fire Brigade in 1977, Jeff joined a local Southport Fire and Security company as Technical Sales Director, leaving in 1996, following an approach by Thorn Security to join their new Radio Fire Detection division in London.
Staying just for a short period, he was then persuaded to join the EMS Group in 1996 as Regional Director, with Sales and Technical responsibilities for the United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle of Man and Malta, before finally retiring after 14 years service in 2010.
A lover of music, he played rhythm guitar for a number of bands including The Phoenix Five, formed during his time in the Fire Brigade and performed at many charity events throughout Liverpool in the 1970s.
A member of Charnock Richard Golf Club 1996 to 1998, Hurlston Hall Golf Club 1998 to 2004.
Having organised and enjoyed many Corporate Golf Events at Hesketh Golf Club, he applied and was accepted for membership in 2004.
Became Junior Organiser in 2006 prior to retirement.
An active member of Council, served on the House Committee during 2010, Chairman of House 2011, elected Club Chairman from 2012 to 2016.
