We as a team aspire to reach our goals so that we are able to provide a course that not only are we proud of but one where members and visitors alike will enjoy playing.
Between the 6 full time members of staff we have a combined service to Hesketh of nearly 70 years.
Our mantra is to provide a course that is testing but above all enjoyable to all standards of player.
If you see any of the team on the course please feel free to stop and say hi.
In 1990 I began my greenkeeping career at Yelverton GC in Devon, where I rose to Deputy Head. In 1996 I returned to Scotland to become Deputy at Machrihanish and in 1997 I became Course Manager. I left Machrihanish in the Summer of 2007 to take up the position of Course Manager here at Hesketh.
Just a few of my highlights whilst at Hesketh have been R&A’s Junior Open and British Amateur and being invited by the GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America) to talk about British Greenkeeping in 5 different venues in NW USA.
Away from work I love spending time with my family including my 2 dogs, watching football and being the best Christian I can be.
I started work at Hesketh in April 1990 this brings me to completing 30yrs service in April 2020 a milestone I’m proud of.
Starting as an assistant working up to my current position as Deputy Course Manager.
My qualifications are, City and Guilds Level 2+3 plus several more I’ve achieved during the years.
Out of work, most of my time is spent with my young grand daughter.
I started life here at Hesketh golf club at the age of 16 in June 2006. I finished my final exam on the Friday and started on the Monday and haven’t looked back since. I started as an apprentice and over the years I’m proud to have become First assistant.
I have completed my level 2 and level 3 in Sports Turf Diplomas and throughout my time here have gained certificates in a wide range of skills, but my favourite of all is my excavator licence. I’m at my happiest when Peter sends me out with my little JCB digger.
I’m massively family orientated and love nothing more than spending time with my close friends and family.
I got married to Laura in July 2018 and had the honour of having my reception right here at Hesketh. After which I have gone on to buy my first house and our first little dog, Bruce.
I owe a lot to the Hesketh and I am very proud to work her.
I started my career at Hesketh in 2012 as an apprentice. I attended Myerscough college to gain levels 2 and 3 sportsturf Diplomas and then gained more certificates in a range of skills to get me to where I am today. I am now a valued member of the green team and plan and carry out all feeding and spraying operations on the course.
Away from the course I enjoy being outdoors either lay pigeon or game shooting which I have done from a young age.
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, I also have my own business that keeps me occupied.
I am a qualified Greenkeeper thanks to Myerscough college and achieved NVQ level 3.
In 2011 I attended an internship at Ohio state university. During my year out I worked at Double Eagle Golf course in Collumbus OH, then Lake Nona in Orlando FL. Lake Nona held the Tavistock Cup, there I worked as one of the main spray applicators.
After working in the US I then came to work at Hesketh golf course for five and a half years. I left Hesketh in 2018 to explore New Zealand. I worked as a Ski Technician and barista serving coffee.
I have returned to Hesketh to continue my role as Greenkeeper. I hold my chainsaw spraying and excavator licenses
In my spare time I go to church, go hiking and attend an archery club.
I joined the green team at Hesketh in March 2019 after deciding on a change of career away from the world of photography. Since joining Hesketh I have started studying for my Level 2 in Turf Management as well as gaining qualifications in Spraying and First Aid.
My hobbies include golf, tennis, cricket and wildlife watching, however most of my spare time is spent with my sports mad son, either watching him play football or caddying for him in golf competitions.
